Hello! My name is Vyacheslav. I live in Winnipeg, MB. I have a beautiful 3 in 1 (Chess, Checkers, Backgammon) hand made set from the Russian Prison. It's made of wood and it's fairly big. It comes with 4 hand made leather bags for it. The chess were made in the prison called "Chornyy Berkut" and traded by my father from the prisoners for something else. My father brought the set to Canada in 2017. I am interested in selling it. Please contact me at +1 416 834 4585 or [email protected] to if you are interested or want to see more pictures. Thanks!
Chat here if you have any chess sets to sell.
I'm selling my Noj Dubrovnik Minceta pieces, in maple and brown stained maple. These were made in 2020 and are in like new condition, having hardly been used. I'll sell them for Cdn $1,400 firm, which includes delivery to Canada or the continental USA. Please PM me for additional photos or other questions.
Here is the set as typically advertised:

@Northof50 Nice set! $1,400 CDN seems reasonable. Good luck with the sale.
Thanks @MCH818
Wait a sec, @felonet. What does "unweighted (for future longevity)" mean? Most of my sets, wood or plastic, are weighted. Is this something I need to worry about? To save time I'm just gonna start worrying about it now.
@RoaringForkChessClocks, weighted pieces may crack/split as wood contracts and expands over time via humidity and temperature fluctuations. Typically, this occurs when wood dynamically contracts against the weight and binding material, which is static in nature. Unfortunately, it's not uncommon to come across these occurrences, which can be due to single or multiple factors. For instance, too much weight binding (glue, putty...) could have been applied, not enough wood was routed, stock wasn't dried properly before lathe/carving processes, a pre-existing crack/split (internal or external), et cetera.
Hi, I have a custom solid metal chess set designed and machined by me. The black pieces are solid brass and the white pieces are solid stainless steel. The spikes on the queen's heads are unscrewable so you can decide what colour to have on each queen. The knights are a custom design to look like a knights helmet.
All pieces are polished to an almost mirror finish.
Does anyone have any idea how much I could charge for this? I have absolutely no idea. The material alone cost me hundreds.

@FraudulentSpaceman, Gorgeous set — beautifully designed and finished. As to value, I would figure out your actual material cost, calculate how much time you spent making it, and determine the irreducible minimum you would accept for the set, then add 25-35 percent. Whether you can sell it at that price or not is another question.
There are many different kinds of chess players and collectors, and this is really a collector set, not being a standard Staunton design that could be used in serious play. That limits your market somewhat. However, there are also collectors who specialize in modern sets, metal sets, and figural sets, so you might strike lucky. Best of luck!

I’m no Chavet expert, of which we have more than a few here, but the price they are asking seems pretty high for a B210 without the original box, and one that has been used regularly in a chess club. That said, it does look to be in pretty good shape for a chess club used set. These Chavets always did hold up well, and given how tough the mid 90’s B210’s are to find, maybe it is a decent deal… I dunno. Not for me, though. I have a couple of the Chavet 8 size, which I prefer.

Absolutley reasonable. Everybody has to decide, whether it is worth it for them, of course.
