Hi everyone :-) If you have any chess sets to sell, then this is the place to chatwink.pngbk.pngwk.png

I am looking for a wooden chess set, not to small, but normal size.

Ebay would be a good place to start your search, unless a forum member is willing to sell you one of their sets for that price. You could get very lucky and find a gem if you frequent flea markets and garage sales. There are many instances that sellers may not be aware of what value their items can truly fetch. Not that you'll land an original Jaques of London mid 1800's set but hey you never know what you may uncover in your searches. Good luck to you Sir.

Where is the best place to sell chess boards?  I have about 50 that are just collecting dust.  Wooden ones, marble ones, glass ones.  I dont think ebay would be the right place to sell ones like the star wars schach/chess set and the clash of ages fantasy set.  Both i cant find a decent selling price for.

Seeing as you joined 7 hours ago to make this post I do not think you will have much luck. I have purchased several sets off people posting here but they had been members for quite some time and I felt they could be trusted.

I would not want to buy from you without some guarantee such as you get when purchasing on eBay.

Then its a good thing i am not trying to sell them on here.  I do not know anyone and would not trust being paid correctly.  If you read the post i am asking for HELP.  I have no clue where i can get the correct prices for what i have.  I have no idea where to even try.  This seemed like a chess world where the information would be known by someone.  I am sorry you got the wrong idea and somehow took my asking for help as a "hey buy my boards even though we no nothing about each other"  I thought this was a place that could help me.

Sorry about that. Did not mean to upset you, I thought you were looking to sell them here. Probably should have started a new thread tile NEED HELP SELLING BOARDS

You hijacked someone else's thread that talked about selling stuff.

One option would be to list your chess set on ebay and post a link in a thread here. Chess.com mods/owner should be ok with that idea.

We could request the mods to make it a sticky, although a chess.com Group would be even better. We need an active admin.

I have a few chess sets/ boards to sell as well. Just clearing some old stuff and buying new ones.

Hope this idea works out.

How big is that? Chess sets are normally sized by height of the King.

How much were you looking to spend?

I have a few sets which are surplus, e.g.:

null

It's a nice enough set, sold by (but not made by) Jaques of London. It's weighted and felted. The Black pieces are ebonised, not ebony.

Matt,

The OP posted almost six months back and hasn't logged in for past two months. There clearly seems to be a need for buy/sell platform on chess.com without any legal liabilities for the owners. If not chess.com then maybe a facebook group.

Senior and Regular members who post here regularly could discuss this with the site owners ?

Pre-condition should be before posting for sale , the item should be listed on ebay or etsy.

How does the group name : Chess Marketplace sound ?

I have sold a few sets on here.  I do not want to go through the trouble of listing my stuff on either eBay or Etsy.  What has worked for me is to simply post on this forum that I am selling some stuff and people message me and we arrange for the sale to occur.

I plan on selling over 12 more sets in the near future and by not using eBay or Etsy I end up selling the equipment very inexpensively to the individual.

Thanks for that - it makes my chess set habit seem less serious happy.png

No problem, I think.  I have decided to sell sets that I haven't used and really will not use, even though I like the set.

In deciding what to sell, I realized I am still keeping over 18 nice wood sets.

Oh Ron, I always enjoys your sets. When you decide to sell some, please keep me in mind.

I have researched everywhere and there has got to be a chess collector web site that you can sell and buy boards.  I just think ebay is hit or miss.  If no one is looking for a chess set on there it is a miss.  Maybe we should make a facebook page sell and buy chess sets?  They have yard sale ones everywhere why not a chess one.
