DGT Pegasus?

DGT Pegasus is the new online chessboard from DGT.  It is very similar to the DGT Centaur only slightly smaller and with online capabilities.

Has anyone got any news on when it will be released, or better yet tried it?

I called DGT directly and they said there have been delays due to QA on the boards themselves.  They expect them to ship to dealers next week.

That's exciting and I hope they stick to that timeline.  I've been debating between getting the Pegasus and the Square Off Pro.  What really pushes me towards the Pegasus is its direct integration with Chess.com without having to go through a third party app. With the SOP, having to go through their specific app and only access features programmed within the app is a turn off.  Given the fact that they're already attempting to monetize aspects of the app itself (I think I read that when you play the inbuilt AI, if you want move suggestions from the computer you have to buy gems that cost real money if you run out) I'm definitely skeptical about Square Off's longevity and overall long term monetization strategy.

I have ordered the DGT Pegasus yesterday. It uses smart bluetooth (no pairing - just start the app - less energy), boots in 2 seconds, weighted pieces - felt on the bottom. You can save the pgn of the game, send it to another app to analyse it/ or your favourite PC chess programm (Fritz?).It supports chess.com, lichess, chess24. Other plattforms will come, other apps will come: shredder? - hiarcs? - white pawn? - chess for androids? - we will see.

For me its a MUST HAVE!

I have pre-ordered and paid at https://www.topschach.de as they show as in stock, but no shipping details yet and they are not replying to emails.  Also the APP does not appear in the Apple App Store so I am not feeling optimistic now.

DGT set it should ship to dealers next week.

Like many I play online, but I am hoping to use 2 sets with my son remotely, so we can practise openings etc with each other.  Basically I want him to have the videos, guides, youtube open etc so we can practise openings more like a "real" person.  He prefers to play on a real board.

Then we swap over and he practises against me.

It's kinda hard to find a good way to practise openings, as the engines are always weird, and online you have to hope the other person takes a path you have prepared, and either way you need to complete a whole game.

So a combination of the DGT Pegasus, with iPads, phones etc could be fun!

Android DGT Chess app for Pegasus is available via Google Play in the US now.

I was waiting impatiently for the Pegasus to be available, but then pulled trigger on an Millenium Exclusive instead.

Why ?

(1) Turns out pegasus will be connecting using this feature on chess.com apps https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EC6HyZtg4XQ&t=80s  . I would rather play with wooden pieces instead

Everyone makes their choices.  The Millenium is a much bigger, heavier, more expensive solution with an ugly cable.

And I bet it doesn't until 2022 as I think inventory is low.

Spoke to DGT and they are shipping the units to dealers tomorrow or the day after.  Pegasus should then be at European dealers at least this weekend or beginning of next week.

There is a slight delay in the iPhone DGT app but is should be released when the units reach customers.

I already got the dgt chessboard with the weighted fide pieces. Just want the Pegasus so I got a smaller and cheaper board to blitz with. You don't want to over use high quality chess pieces too much.

Surely you can just buy more wooden pieces? The real money is in the rest of the kit.

Fide weighted was $800-900 unless you're BIll Gates that ain't no pocket change.

I hope they get their skates on as my unit is due for delivery tomorrow and I only have Apple kit here.

My guess is there will be no APP for Apple in the near future as it is quite a job to get approved......so if not done today unlikely to suddenly happen this week.  I hope I am wrong.
