A better way to study with books - ChessVision

Granted that I'm not a high level player, so keep that in mind, I have found a better way for me to study my chess books.  Use Chessvision.ai eBook Reader.  No, I'm not the author, just a satisfied customer.

In the past, it has been a great struggle to read through the books, especially when the author shows a chess board position graphic and then proceeds to explain 10-20+ positions after that.  I can go maybe 4-8 positions, but beyond that I get lost.  Others have recommended that this is a good exercise in visualization, which I get, but I can only plod through 1-2 pages each hour.

Others have said to pull out a chess board and play the positions.  That is good and helpful but slower and less flexible than using the chessvision site.

Also using the site, it conveniently brings up a chess site next to the book page, and beyond just moving the pieces, I'm able to run stockfish to look for other variations.

This has helped me in the amount of books I'm able to read in the short amount of time I have each day.

PS. I get that many good books are not available in pdf, but it's not hard to take use my phone camera to scan a chapter at a time as I'm working through it.

PSS.  This is similar but less expensive to sites like chessable.com where you can easily follow along with the book and text -- but those are limited to the books they have.

There are a number of chess book readers on the market now.  I will have to give this one a look.  Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks for the mention! I'm the author of Chessvision.ai eBook Reader so feel free to reach out with any questions!

In short, the Reader makes chess PDFs interactive so that you can double-click any diagram to instantly load it into an analysis board.

Just recently I made a major release and now the Reader is available for both desktops and mobiles:
