Here is a news article about Russian politics and Garry Kasparov again. But this time there is talk of Garry Kasparov being elected as Russian president:

Will Garry Kasparov achieve another great accomplishment of becoming the Russian president along with his feat of becoming the World Chess Champion?

He'd be a great prospect. Could he be the Antichrist? Probably not. I think Satan plays checkers.

 lol!  Laughing

I can't see Kasparov becoming Russian president, but he might help get rid of Putin.

I find it as likely for an opposition party to get elected in Russia as to a third party to be elected in America.

I've been reading about Kasparov's political activities for a while. He has set himself up as Putin's nemesis. Far be it for me to second guess a strategic genius like Kasparov, but he is playing a potentially deadly game with Vladimir Putin. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Garry Kasparov suddenly died of radiation poisoning.

Kasparov is too much known internationally and also too much liked nationally, and too obvious a target to be a reasonable target for the regime's assassins.

You're dreaming. Compared to contaminating airports all over Europe with radiation en route to hitting a guy in London, killing Kasparov in Russia would be nothing.

I'm not talking if it's practically possible or not, I'm saying it's not POLITICALLY possible. Well it is, but not without a lot of consequences, and its much easier to let him be, as they have much easier and simple means to stay in power. Also the fact that russians do not vote much for other parties than Putin's one (which will stay Putin's, under the cover of prime minister, erf erf).

Do you guys want me to call my ex in Russia to ask her about an inside vision?

... no? ok...

If Arnold Schwarzenegger can govern california then Garry Kasparov can become Russian President

He won't get in but he would be getting my vote

TheOldReb
Kasparov has no chance of really challenging Putin. Talk to some Russians about it, he only gets a lot of "western" media attention.

Kasparov will turn green after eating a meal with Putin one of these days

Remember Kasparov vs Karpov? This election cycle is just round one of Kasparov vs the system. This man has persistence. Let's review this subject again in five years.

I need to learn how to be a greet chess player, so if someone thinks that he or she is professional please let's play together

Kasparov is a great player. Does someone think that he or she can be like him? I think so, it is very hard to be Kasparov but it is not impossible.

If Arnold can be Governor, why not let Kasparov be President. ;)

The following information is from russian press:

- Kasparov is a consultant of The Center for Security Policy. The main goal of this center is to develop startegy, organize actions and intake of resources for the safety of the USA.

- Fund of Garry Kasparov is registered in USA.

- Kasparov owns a considerable realty in New-York.

- He is the columnist of The Wall Street Journal.

- NDI (National Democratic Institute financed by State Department of USA) was observed in political training of members of political party leaded by Kasparov.

(sorry for bad translation from Russian)

So too many interests of this man have american origin and not native for russians and most likely not for russians. Who is interested in Garry Kasparov as a president of Russia? Not all russians are simple ;)
