2008 far west open, reno

just got back from reno.  it was a bit small, with easter weekend and foxwoods all at the same time, but the turnout was still pretty good, more than 100 players, including GMs Kudrin, Yermolinsky, and Khachyin.

the craziest thing that happened was in the A section, where a kid scored 2.5 points playing 1.e3, 2. Ke2, 3. Kf3.   say what you want, he scored with it.  in the A section.  go figure.

while it may have been "small" it was definatly fun, lots of great chess went down, and reno is such a cool town.  two blocks from all the casinos is the riverwalk, with parks and restaurants and coffeshops and bars such a cool hip vibe.

next tournment in reno is in october, and i will defiantly go if i can make it.  if you are looking for something to do in october, think about the reno tournemnt, it is a great time.

as usual, my version of a full tournament report is at
