just got back from playing in the 2008 eastern state championships in sturbridge massachusetts. for a "small" tournament some big names were there, including Ilya Krasik, GM Shabalov who won the whole thing and GM Kudrin, who i actually talked to and got an interview with. The hotel was pretty nice, the town wasn't too bad, the whole tournament ran really smoothly.
I loved the whole attitude, very laid back, players were friendly and helpful, the skittles room was rocking, the book vendor was pretty awesome.
Definitely worth going back for next year, some great players, a great time. If you ever wondered about playing in it, and you weren't sure, you should give it a try.
