I won the World Amateur Chess Championship Title & a Gold Medal for my country India at Hastings, England,in 1998. I won the Gujarat State Chess Championship Title five consecutive times without losing a single game. A State Record. I won the All India Open Chess Championship Title winning all the games through, which is an unsurpassable National Record. I was also First = in the ALL INDIA OPEN CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP without losing a single game! I represented the Gujarat State Chess Team in the National Chess Championship for more than a decade & got the most coveted National 'A' Grade. I participated in almost all the major Chess Tournaments in India & abroad & emerged as the Prize Winner. For nine consecutive years, I participated in the Chess Congress Tournaments at Hastings, England & won many Prizes. I also participated in the Commonwealth Chess Championship number of times. Apart from Chess, I was a Gujarat State Wrestling Champion, an athlete, weight lifter & played almost all the disciplines of Sports. During my Golden Era spanning from childhood to adulthood I won more than half a thousand Prizes in variegated disciplines of sports. A phenomenal feat by any criterion. First ever Chess player to be honoured & felicitated by the Gujarat State Government with the most prestigious " Gujarat State Eklavya Award " for being the best Sportsman of the year. I was felicitated by the Attorney General of India with the most distinquished "National Federation Excellence Award". I was also felicitated & honoured with numerous prestigious Awards such as "World Zoroastrian Organisation Award" "All India Sports Foundation Award" "Late P.D.Chinnoy Memorial Award" "The Pride Of Gujarat State Award" to name a few. On the 56th Republic Day Of India, I was felicitated & honoured with the most prestigious "Gujarat State Award" by the Hon'ble Governor & Chief Minister of Gujarat State for my unparallel services to the society in the firmament of Chess. For more than thirty-five years I have been rendering my services to the South Gujarat University Chess Team as a Chief Coach, Arbiter & Selector. I run my "Avari Chess Academy" in a small town of Valsad, Gujarat State, India, wherein my beloved wife Roshan & her dear sister Mrs Farida Ratansha Avari teach & promote Chess.
