I am Associate Dean of the College at Illinois College, a school of about 1,000 students in Illinois College. Before becoming Dean three years ago I was a math professor for 13 years, also at Illinois College. My wife is also a math professor at Illinois College. We have triplets, two girls and a boy, who turned nine last fall. I find a lot of similarities between the chess thought process and the mathematical thought process, particularly in looking for patterns. I play in about three or four USCF tournaments a year. I'd like to play more often, but with my job and my family that's not possible.
