Hello Everyone, welcome to Lidong's chessroom. I am Lidong Wang, a 33-year-old National Master of the USA.
Grown-up as a chess prodigy in Shanghai, China, I started playing at the age of 6. After winning various awards in local and national events, I joined the Chinese National Traning Camp as a trainee until I decided to pursue higher education in the USA when I was 18.

I started teaching in 2010 as the President of Chess Club in the University of Rochester, NY. My students and club members have FIDE ratings ranged from 800 to 2000. As the leader of the college chess club, I started and organized inter-college chess league among 5 universities.

My courses focus on opening basics, positional mid-game and endgame strategy. Traps, counter-intuitive tactics and hope-tactics are not mainstream in the chessroom. I offer personalized lessons by studying the student’s previous games and playing games according to his or her ratings to find out the style, weaknesses and strengths to build the courses on. Free course materials are under development.
