This was made specifically for another group, so we can definitely play around with it.

Vote chess is great. However, it involves some rules to ensure the game goes smoothly with communication amongst members. Here's how it'll work.

1. Members of the group join the side they're playing for. If they are on both teams, they can choose which side they want to be on. All members are encouraged to join, the more, the merrier!

2. Members playing should click the 'follow' box under the commenting box. This way, you will receive notifications every time someone comments.

3. Once it is our group's turn, members can discuss moves. Often, especially in the opening, discussion can be done while it is the other group's move and that is okay.

4. When you want to suggest a move, explain why you think it is a good move using a diagram, image of the final position or text (diagram is recommended as it is easy to understand). This improves communication between team mates. I will later post a link to how to post a diagram.

5. As the discussion is going on, members can suggest their ideas or support other ideas. Please do not vote early as it will disrupt the system. Too many early moves might result in the wrong move being voted for! Don't be shy to ask questions about other variations, and feel free to post your own! We are all learning.

6. Once moves are decided, vote chess captains will post the move(s) to be voted for.

This will usually happen when there are 24 hours left (we will only be playing 3 day formatted games) although at times, voting might be done earlier if there is an obvious moves (like a mate in one move). There can be multiple moves shortlisted from which you can choose which one you like best.

7. Resigning should only be voted for when absolutely necessary. We have to be good sports and not troll the opposing team in a completely lost position. Same goes for draw offers. Draws will only be offered when the position is a draw.

8. Have fun!

Some things to remember.

-Be polite

We are all on the same team. If someone suggests a move which seems incorrect, explain why in a polite manner. Refrain from rude comments .

-Encouragement

Encourage other members to join, no matter the rating. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join and play!

-Good sportsmanship

Do not cheat. Engine use is restricted.

-Early voting/ voting a move which has not been discussed

Do NOT do vote early or vote for a move not discussed. It's a 3 strike rule. If you vote early or vote for a move not discussed three times, you will not be allowed to play for the rest of the vote chess match. Remember, you can always suggest a move, even you're unsure about it. We are all here to learn. If you will be unavailable during the 24 hour mark, leave a message and vote for the move being discussed. Please don't do this very often as that move may not be the right one.
