How to set up a time control that’s not one of the preset ones on chess.com:

There may be several ways to do this and the method may seem obvious but here’s one way to do it:

1) go to play page

2) choose “play a friend”

3) enter user name of opponent in “search”

4) select correct user name from list that shows up

5) click on time control options

6) choose “more”

7) enter the time and increment (“inc” option)

8) click on “OK”

9) the page should show the time control you’ve entered and your opponent’s name

10) below the other options, there should be “I play as”

11) select your assigned color

12) click the “play” button

13) if you’re early or your opponent is late to arrive on the play page, the site may eventually say your opponent is not available and you might have to re-click the play button
