FM Rupesh Jaiswal Wins Late Rajesh Hari Joshi Memorial
This blog is dedicated to Late Rajesh Hari Joshi who suffered a heart attack and was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital. Member of FIDE Ethics Commission(2014 and reelected in 2018), Former President of Nepal Chess Association and Former President of Asian Zone 3.2 Shri Rajesh Hari Joshi was an important figure in Development of Chess In Nepal. It was under his guidance that the first rating competition was organized in the country. Before that, there were only a handful of internationally rated players all over Nepal. At the end of his two tenures in office, the number had grown to over 600.
Organized by Lalitpur Chess Club at Agni Party Palace, Kumaripati, Lalitpur-9, Nepal with total cash prize of Rs 310,000 (Nepalese Currency) with first prize being Rs 50000.The organizers took only 100 participants and followed Covid-19 protocols such as PCR test, checking vaccination cards.
After 9 Rounds, FM Rupesh Jaiswal won the event with the score 8/9 gained 23,4 rating points and 2239 rating performance.
He won 7 games and drew 2 games against FM Kshitij Bhandari(who secured second place) and Kamal Shrestha(who secured third place),I would like to thank him for sharing the pgn of his games.
FM Kshitij Bhandari secured second place with 7.5 points and gained 33,2 rating points.

Niken Kusatha known for some interesting play over the board secured 5th place and now has live rating of 2004.8 .
WFM Sujana Lohani won the Best Female prize with 5 points. One of the win was spectacular king hunt against former National champion CM Keshav Shrestha(who coached her during while she was in GoldenGate International Collège)
