Continuing with their good form in the event, Dolakha Chess Home wins the 6th Tulsi Lal Memorial National Team Club Chess Championship-2024 by beating the Team of Bhaktapur District Chess Association with a final score of 3.5 to 0.5 in the Finals. They won 8 out of their 9 matches losing only one match.

The format was different than the previous 5 editions consisting a mix of youth and female players clearly focusing on the growth of U-20 players and female players and helping their growth as they will play with top players and having the advantage to play at any board as a reserve player certainly helps.

League Stage:-
A total of 95 players and 19 teams participated in this event.
Dolakha were the clear favorites to win the event with 3 National Champions (Current National Champions WFM Sujana Lohani & FM Rupesh Jaiswal and Former National Champion CM Purushottam Chaulagain) in their team with strong support from AIM Sushrut Dahal and Muhan Narshing Shrestha, going into the league phase. They qualified for the knockout phase with 6 out of 7 wins. But the journey was not as easy as it seems, they won a critical encounter against the Two Time Team Chess Champions Thapathali Park Chess Club who won the previous two editions by 2.5 to 1.5 in Round 5 with the only victory in Board 3.

The Top Four Teams For the Knock Out Phase

They both won their last matches to win the the ticket to the Knockout Phase. Koshi Province also won against the eventful champions to qualify for the knockout by wining the games on Board 3 and 4 which was the only loss for the champions.

Dolakha Chess Home had a tense struggle but eventfully managed to get the job done on Board no 3 and 4 where a lot of ups and downs was going on especially on Muhan's board who was better in the opening then was lost in the middlegame but won in the end.

With classical portion ending in an stalemate, the rapid tie breaks had other plans Bhaktapur won 4-0 with a stunning turn around in board 2 and 3 and comfortable wins in board no 1 and 4. Unfortunately we don't have the games but it was a tense one.

The Finals:-

The Final was also a titanic struggle from the get go but the experience was the main factor in this win for Dolakha. It seemed everything was going worse for them. Young and Talented Purushottam Silwal having a little edge from the opening. A solid setup in Board 2 and two dynamic positions in Board no 3 and 4. But once Swornim Dulal couldn't handle the ending in his game it all started to change the course of the match. Muhan pulled up an another miracle win and WFM Sujana Lohani cashed in the unnecessary aggression from Abheek Shah. The result was 2-0 and this helped FM Rupesh Jaiswal and Sushrut Dahal to held their own. The Final Score was 3.5 to 0.5 in favor of Dolakha Chess Home. Bhaktapur can be proud of the way they have performed. Surbir Lama's predictions came true as they reached the Finals but couldn't get the job done on the day it mattered most.

Koshi won the match comfortable with two wins and draw securing 3rd place and Makawanpur secured 4th place.
