2024 ALT-Nation Invitational - ROUND 2 REPORT

Out of the 15 games played in the event, only one ended in a draw.

It could have sparked one of the most important, contemporary theoretical debates.



In Round 2, our host, NM James Altucher, once again opens with the King's Indian Defense (KID) — this time against the seasoned American chess traveler, FM Eugene Yanayt.

The game takes on a completely different character from James' first-round KID against me.

Both of these unique individuals are what make our chess community so vibrant.

There's never a dull moment when talking to Eugene — the conversation is always engaging.

Right out of the gates this was a competitive event.
After Round 2, the standings were:
1st-2nd: (FM) Todd Andrews, (NM) Carter Peatman 1.5/2
3rd-5th: (FM) Kazim Gulamali, (NM) Dave Vest, (NM) James Altucher 1.0/2
6th: (FM) Eugene Yanaty 0.0/2
