CCC22 Rapid
The second event in the CCC22 series is the Rapid Event, played at a time control of 10+3. The remaining event is the CCC22 bullet event, followed by a potential Classical Cup #2. Rapid is slated to begin around January 24th, 2024.
Stockfish yet again won the CCC22 Blitz event, beating Torch with a score of 284.0/500.0 in the Finals, as well as beating Leela in the Alt Finals with a score of 294.5/500.0. Stockfish won the previous CCC21 Blitz event, with a score of 302.0/500.0 against Torch.
This season will bring back FM Jonathan Rosenthal's engine, Winter. John Stanback's engine Wasp will also return after being gone for a couple years. To keep the event to 32 engines, Svart and WhiteCore are sitting on the sidelines, based on the performance disparity in the CCC22 Blitz Entry League.
This event will feature the following matches. As the matches are played, this blog will be updated to link to the match, as well as indicate which engines are advancing further into the event. All engine placements are the results of seeding from the CCC22 Blitz.
Match 1: Entry League, will feature Arasan, BlackMarlin, Equisetum, Velvet, Carp, Weiss, Smallbrain, Tucano, Marvin, Stash, Winter, and Wasp. The top-6 of these 12 will advance to the next set of games. The match will include a 2x DRR, spanning 264 games, and around 5 days.
Match 2: Qualifier #1, will feature Revenge, Uralochka, Minic, Stormphrax, Booot, Altair and the qualifiers from Match 1. The top-6 of these 12 will advance to the next set of games. The match will include a 2x DRR, spanning 264 games, and around 5 days.
Match 3: Qualifier #2, will feature Caissa, Seer, Igel, Rofchade, Clover, Viridithas, and the qualifiers from Match 2. The top-4 of these 12 will advance to the next set of games. The match will include a 2x DRR, spanning 264 games, and around 5 days.
Match 4: Main, will feature Stockfish, Torch, Leela, Dragon, Berserk, Ethereal, Rubi, Obsidian and the top-4 from Match 3. The top-6 of these 12 will advance to the next set of games. The match will include a 3x DRR, spanning 396 games, and around 8 days.
Match 5: Semifinals, will feature the top-6 engines from Match 4. The winner will be seeded directly into the Finals. The 2nd and 3rd place engines will compete in a head-to-head for the final spot in the finals. The match will include a 16x DRR, spanning 480 games, and around 10 days.
Match 6: Challenger Match, will be a direct head-to-head of the 2nd and 3rd place engines from the Semifinals. The match will include a 125x DRR, spanning 250 games, and around 5 days.
Match 7: Finals, will be a direct head-to-head between the winner of the Semifinals, and the winner of the Challenger Match. The match will include a 250x DRR, spanning 500 games, and around 5 days.
Results:
Arasan and Equisetum take joint first in the Entry League, and will be promoted to the next event, along with BlackMarlin and Carp. A three-way tie for the remaining two spots caused a Tiebreaker Match #1 between Weiss, Velvet and Marvin. Velvet and Marvin came out on top, and are also being promoted.
Revenge won the Rapid Qualifier #1, and will be promoted to the next event. A six-way tie for the remaining five spots occurred. After Tiebreaker Match #2, Arasan, Uralochka, Stormphrax, Blackmarlin, and Booot managed to promote, leaving Equisetum behind.
Caissa won the Rapid Qualifier #2, and will be promoted to the next event, along with Igel, Rofchade, and Seer.
Stockfish won the Main Event, and will be promoted alongside Leela, Torch, Dragon, Berserk, and Caissa.
