Prices Are Changing For NEW Premium Members On Sept. 1

On September 1, for the first time since 2009, we are changing our membership plans. As part of this change, prices will be increasing in some countries and are decreasing in even more. We are also changing the structure of our plans; Gold and Platinum members will receive unlimited puzzles and lessons. Unlimited game review will be available for Platinum and Diamond plans. Before we talk about why we are making these changes, there are a few important things to note:

• PRICES AND PLAN FEATURES WILL ONLY CHANGE FOR NEW PREMIUM MEMBERS ON SEPTEMBER 1.
• All members who have a premium account or upgrade their accounts before September 1 will be "grandfathered in" at their current prices and plan features for the foreseeable future (though additional VAT/taxes may still apply).
• If you’ve been considering upgrading to premium, now is a great time to lock in your pricing.
• If you are an existing Gold, Platinum, or monthly premium member, now is a great time to upgrade to an annual Diamond membership and lock in your price going forward!

We are continuing to invest heavily in improving our features, especially in tools that help players understand chess more deeply. We have bigger, faster, more reliable servers to go along with our newer, state-of-the-art anti-cheating technology. We are giving more and more money back to the chess community by creating tools to support creators, bringing bigger events for chess players, and creating better content for our members. And we have a lot more exciting, innovative things coming! To grow sustainably, we decided many years ago to offer subscriptions as an option for people who wanted access to ever-evolving features, an ad-free experience, and to support the game of chess.

Since we launched our premium membership prices in 2009, inflation has gone up, in turn driving up expenses like hosting, business services, and prizes. Many countries now also apply VAT to purchases on Chess.com. At the same time, not all countries are in the same economic situation. Due to these considerations, for the first time in our company’s history, we have revised our plans and pricing to grow more sustainably and equitably.
