How To Watch the FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament
The FIDE Candidates Tournament resumes this Monday, April 19, 2021, in Yekaterinburg, Russia. The winner will earn the right to challenge GM Magnus Carlsen for the world championship in November in Dubai. This article provides you with all the information on how to watch the Candidates on Chess.com.
Apart from the world championship itself, the Candidates Tournament is the biggest event of the year. For each of the eight players, winning would mean a life-changing achievement. After an almost 13-month hiatus since the tournament was interrupted, you can finally watch how this historic event will unfold, with an amazing watch experience here on Chess.com.
Where Do I Find The Games?
You can watch the Candidates on our brand new events page at Chess.com/events. You'll find easy access to all games played and the ones underway in a multi-diagram format as well as a comfortable single-game format with engine analysis and the possibility to make your own moves analysis or vote who will win. More information on this new product will be given soon, but for now, let's just say we're excited to launch it just before this great tournament resumes!
Where's Your Broadcast?
The events page also includes an embed of our English-language broadcast but the main location is, as always, Chess.com/tv. We're providing a daily broadcast starting from 16:00 Yekaterinburg time which is 13:00 CEST, 7 a.m. Eastern, and 4 a.m. Pacific. Because Chess.com acquired the broadcast rights, we will have live camera feeds of the players and the playing hall. Note that the main English broadcast will start an hour earlier on April 19 to open the event. (There will be international options as well).
Will Vishy Anand Be Back?
Absolutely. Your daily hosts are GM Robert Hess and IM Danny Rensch and, like last year, we'll have the legendary super-GM Vishy Anand every day as well! The five-time world champion and winner of the 2014 Candidates in this very format will provide his invaluable insights and experience. Other guests will include GM Wesley So, GM Levon Aronian, and the famous coach NM Bruce Pandolfini.

Multiple Languages
Chess.com is providing commentary in multiple languages. Below are the major ones, the hosts, and some of the guests you can expect:
In our Russian broadcast, GM Evgeny Tomashevsky and GM Alexandra Kosteniuk will commentate. On some days, GM Kateryna Lagno will be commentating instead of Kosteniuk. There will be guests as well, to be revealed soon.
For our Spanish broadcast, the main hosts will be GM Carlos Matamoros and WIM Gabriela Vargas, and guests such as GM Julio Granda Zuniga, GM José Carlos Ibarra, GM José Martínez Alcántara, and IM Ricardo Kropff.
In our French broadcast, NM Kevin Bordi will comment all rounds and will be joined alternately by GM Fabien Libiszewski and GM Matthieu Cornette. We might also have GM Sebastien Maze, who will be accompanying GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave in Yekaterinburg, to get his reactions from time to time.
In our Portuguese broadcast, GM Krikor Mekhitarian will be commentating each day with co-commentators such as GM Rafael Leitao, GM Alex Fier, GM Evandro Barbosa, and GM Luis Paulo Supi.
In our German broadcast, IM Steve Berger, IM Elisabeth Paehtz, and WIM Fiona Steil-Antoni will appear.
Our Polish broadcast is provided by GM Wojciech Moranda as well as several streamers: Bartosz Rudecki (xntentacion), IM Damian Lewtak (DamianLewtak), FM Miłosz Szpar (Szparu), CM Tomasz Jaskółka (Jaskol95), and FM Kamil Kozioł (Kozok).
We'll also have an Italian broadcast with WFM Maria de Rosa.
