7 Reasons To Play The 2019 Daily Chess Championship
Registration is open for the 2019 Chess.com Daily Chess Championship, set to begin at 12 a.m. Pacific on January 1. Last year's event set Chess.com's record for the largest tournament we've ever held with 7,344 players competing.
Here are seven reasons you should sign up:
7. Help us break 8,000 players!
With a massive player pool, one day per move, no vacation time, and 12-player sections in which only the winner advances, the 2019 Chess.com Daily Chess Championship will be a thrilling and unique experience, shared by thousands of chess players.
6. Make friends on Chess.com.
Like everything, Chess.com is better with friends, but it's not always easy to connect with other chess players in live chess. Daily chess games are a great way to get to know some of the most dedicated and affable members of the Chess.com community. Strike up a discussion in the game chat and meet players from all around the globe!
5. Play against GMs, IMs, staff, and more!
Many Chess.com notables will be playing in this tournament. Get the chance to go toe to toe with them and either beat them or learn from them!
4. Have your games publicized by Chess.com.
Tweet us your best games with the hashtag #dailychess or post them in the comments on the tournament page. We'll be sharing some of the best games on social media for Chess.com and awarding 💎 memberships to our favs. Maybe you'll be the one to win with a smothered mate or epic queen sacrifice and become internet famous?

3. Start the new year off right.
If you are anything like us, you've got some chess-related New Year's resolutions. Playing and analyzing more games is a great way to learn. In this tournament, players will play 22 games against the 11 other players in their section (one with White and one with Black).
We recommend using our new features to save analysis as you go to document your thoughts. Then look back afterwards and see how your thoughts agreed with our computer analysis or your opponent's ideas.
2. Brush up on your theory.
Daily chess provides a great opportunity to study your games WHILE you play. Of course, you can never use engines, but you can set up the position on a real board, reference our opening explorer, and books. It's a great way to learn!
1. Become the 2019 Daily Chess Champion!
It's going to be a hard road, but one highly skilled player will become the 2019 Daily Chess Champion! Maybe that player will be you?
